Wattsbar Utility UFR Pilot Summery

From June 6-10, 2008, Watts Bar Utility installed UFRs in 35 locations on Little Johnson Valley Rd in Kingston, TN.Each location has 5/8x3/4" volumetric meter with radio read.
Each meter is approximately 4 years old.

UFR – an Innovative Solution for Water Meter Under Registration – Case Study in Jerusalem, Israel

The paper will give a brief overview of how the UFR works, and will describe the trials thathave been conducted in Jerusalem, before a decision was reached to install UFRs in the city.
One reason for water meter under registration is the inability to measure low flow rates.

Trials to Quantify and Reduce in-situ Meter Under-Registration

The paper shall look at three sequential issues
1) the theory behind Apparent Waterlosses
2) modern techniques for measuring Apparent Losses and revenue watermeters
3) two alternative solutions for controlling consumer meter underregistration.

Reduction of Apparent Losses Using the UFR (Unmeasured-Flow Reducer) – Case Studies

The demand for water is increasing due to population growth and technological development whereas water is becoming a scarce resource. There is an urgent need to find innovative solutions for water loss in water supply systems.

Investigations Into Under-Registration of Customer Meters in Palermo (Italy) and the Effect of Introducing Unmeasured Flow Reducers

Water supply system management has to be based on a deep knowledge of its cost, of the network water and energy consumption and of the level of water losses.
Every leakage control program has a water system balance as a common starting point (Ismail and Puad, 2006).

Experience and Results Achieved in Introducing District Metered Areas (DMA) and Pressure Management Areas (PMA) at Enia Utility (Italy)

Enìa is a municipally owned utility, which serves the provinces of Piacenza, Parma and Reggio Emilia in Northern Italy.
Enìa Reggio Emilia is the department serving approximately 515,000 in 45 municipalities in the province of Reggio Emilia. Total length of distribution system is of around 4850 km.

Apparent Water Loss Control: The Way Forward

Water losses are grouped into two types of loss; Real losses, which are the physical losses (or leakage) andApparent losses, which are caused by revenue meter under-registration, water theft and billing errors.
WhilstReal losses are an expense due to lost water, Apparent losses are not so much an expense to the water utility asthey are a loss of potential revenue.

An Innovative Solution for Water Meter Under Registration – Case Study

The paper will give a brief overview of how the UFR works, and will describe the trials that have been conducted in Jerusalem, before a decision was reached to install UFRs in the city.

An Innovative Solution for the Reduction of Apparent Losses

Under-reistration of low flow rates is the main reason for apparent water losses.
The UFR is an innovative product that reduces apparent water losses by changing the flow regime of low flow rates through the water meter.

An Innovative Solution for the Reduction of Apparent Losses

Under-registration of low flow rates is the main reason for apparent water losses. The UFR is an innovative product that reduces apparent water losses by changing the flow regime of low flow rates through the water meter. The UFR has been successfully tested and inspected worldwide.
